SOUND LUST: A MrFloetic Production

Who says Vancouver has no music scene!?

Meet Mr. Floetic aka Jason (@mrfloetic), a dude who not only is a talented DJ, but is also one of the founding members of Vancouver's very own music curating group, Emotions Open Mic. As a DJ, Mr. Floetic caters to a wide range of clients from weddings, special events, to Vancouver's night scene. His dynamic musical palette allows him to pull music from different genres to mix and match to create a unique blend. You definitely won't be disappointed to see him do his thang live.

I had a chance to chat with him about his upcoming EP release, SOUND LUST, which will be dropping on MAY 29th, 2016. Keep reading to get to know more about Jason, one on one. ;)

What/who was the inspiration behind the EP?

"I have always loved music and always had an interest in creating my own sound. What really inspired this project was the movement we have started with Emotions. It started off by wanting to build something for Vancouver where we could put our passions together to work with various artists. I wanted to showcase my skills as a producer and provide a platform where artists could vocalize their talents."

EP features Raeliss, Amanda Silvera, Alivea Arele

Who are some of your favourite artists?

"This is a tricky question because I like a wide range of artists. When it comes to hip-hop, I am a huge fan of Common, Jay Z, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar. When it comes to producing, I really enjoy Timbaland, Kaytranada, and Diplo. On the other side of the spectrum, I also like Coldplay, Michael Bublé, Earth, Wind & Fire, so it's a difficult question for me to answer LOL."

Any upcoming shows?

"On the last Sunday of every month, I host Emotions Open Mic. The May 29th show is a special one because that's when I will be releasing the EP to the public. Other than that, I can't get to the roots of how I came this far... I have my weekly gigs at DLUX, Own and Studio throughout the week. People can definitely catch me throughout any given week."

Any words of wisdom from being in Vancouver's music industry?

"I never thought I would be, or could be doing what I am doing this year. I always wanted to do something with music, whether it was DJ-ing, producing, managing artists, or hosting events, such as Emotions. I never had the confidence to do so for the longest time because of critics or situations that I went through in the past. So my advice to anyone that is thinking of doing something they love, is to JUST DO IT. You never know how far you can take something or how far you can go with things until you try. It sounds cliché, but when people say, "Don't let anyone stop you," these are real words to live by. Since I came to the realization that YOU have to be accountable for your own actions and your own success, I grew exponentially as an individual and I haven't looked back, and I don't intend to anytime soon."
